School Council
Elected to School Council for Academic Year 2022/23
Here are our School Council members for the Academic Year 2022-2023. They have been chosen by their classmates to represent their class and be ‘their voice’ at Brunshaw. They will undertake many jobs this year developing a variety skills including fundraising for charity and ensuring that their voice is heard regarding decisions made in the school.
Last year our School Council were involved in raising a lot of money for Ukraine by organising a non-uniform day and holding a cake sale. They also helped to create our School Rules which can be found at the front of our school planner.
We are sure that this year’s representatives will continue the hard work that has been started. Class meetings are held to discuss whole school topics and the School Council representative then brings their thoughts and views to the School Council meetings. The children then meet with Mrs McGuigan to discuss plans that can be put in place based on the findings from the meetings.
Representatives for this year are:
Oak Class: Ellis
Aspen Class: Kyra
Cedar Class: Isla
Holly Class: Oliver
Maple Class: Priya
Spruce Class: Dylan
Rowan Class: Zachary
Chestnut Class: Blake
Hawthorn Class: Amelia
Elder Class: Charlie

Achievements
This Year, School Council have been very active and below you will see some of the work they have done.
This includes consulting with all the school to create some new School Rules.
In addition, they have had input into the Playground and use of the different Zones and are currently organising a competition so that our staff will appear in some way on the web site.
Raising Funds for the Food Bank - December 2022
Over the festive period, £141 was raised by the children in school which they unanimously voted to give to charity. We decided on the Food Bank at Christmas and split our money between treats for people who might struggle to treat themselves and staple foodstuffs. Mrs McGuigan and Mrs Davis took some of the school council shopping to Aldi and we donated the products to BFC Foodbank.
Non-Uniform Day and Cake Sale for Ukraine - July 2022
School Council successfully organised a non-uniform day and held a cake sale in order to raise funds to support children affected by the war in Ukraine, raising a fantastic £446.28.
