In our music lessons at Brunshaw, we aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum and our lessons cover the different aspects of listening and appraising, performing, creating and composing and the inter-related dimensions of music which includes pitch, tempo, dynamics etc… Our work is recorded through the use of technology and through the use of floor books.

Example of Home Learning

1K, in class and at home, have chosen a piece of music. They had to listen to that music and think about the following questions

1. How does the music make you feel?

2. What different instruments can you hear?

Here are some of the children’s choices and why they chose that piece of music.

Harry Lawrence – ‘I listened to The Witch Doctor. It made me feel good and excited. I could hear a drum, trumpet, piano and saxophone’.

Oliver Morris – ‘ I chose to listen to the song, Party in the Elevator. Oliver says this song makes him feel happy. He can hear a Drum, Keyboard and Guitar.
