Hello, my name is Miss Rea and I teach Sycamore Class. We are one of the Reception classes that are based up at the Foundation Centre. Working alongside me in Sycamore Class is Miss Windle.
Miss Lees and Mrs Birtwell also work in the Foundation Centre and these ladies may teach us for phonics or access provision with us,
In Reception we have lots of exciting topics, including learning all about ourselves, the people who help us and in the summer have a fun filled all at sea topic. We access a range of activities that are linked to our learning and interests within provision and these can change on a weekly or daily basis.
As Reception is the final year of the EYFS, lots of learning is still play based and we have access to both indoors and outdoors for the majority of the school day. We start our Literacy journey by learning phonics and seeing how this helps us to read and write. We use Numberland to explore the numbers to 10 and this stays out all the time for us to embed our learning.
During Reception we have an exciting visit to a farm where we are able to see the baby animals and explore what it is like to work on a farm. We also partner up with the Year 6 classes for Seeds and Gardeners, we meet with them each half term with different themed activities.
If you would like to find out more about our curriculum, please look at the EYFS area. Photos of all the learning and exploring we get up to will be shared on class dojo throughout the year.
It is really important that you read regularly at home, even if this is just a couple of pages each day. This will be part of your homework, with a half termly task to complete.
PE days may change throughout the year, please make sure that your PE is in school with all kit and uniform clearly labelled.
