Hello, my name is Miss Ahmed and I teach Ash Class. We are a Year 1 class. Working alongside me in Ash Class is Mrs Williams and Miss Jones. We are also joined by Miss Martin, who is part of the wider Year 1 team.

In Year 1, we dive into a range of exciting topics. In History, we explore the fascinating story of the Great Fire of London. In Design and Technology, we get creative and design our very own tents. In Science, we investigate the seasons and discover how the weather changes throughout the year. Our English lessons are full of fantastic texts, including Where Does My Food Come From? and George’s Marvellous Medicine.

We also go on some brilliant trips to support our learning. This includes a visit to the Fireground Museum to bring our History lessons to life and a trip to Towneley Park, where we’ll meet a Park Keeper – a perfect link to our English curriculum.

It is really important that you read your reading book regularly and focus on making sure you complete any homework that is given during the week. You will also have a half termly homework task to complete.

PE days may change throughout the year, so please ensure your child’s PE kit is always in school, and that all uniform and kit are clearly labelled.
