Elm

Hello, my name is Mrs Bull and I teach Elm Class. We are a year one class. Working alongside me in Elm Class are Mrs Davis and Mrs Cheetham. Miss Martin also works across the year one classes.

In year one we have lots of exciting topics, including learning about the Great Fire of London and Toys in the Past in History, making ice lollies and designing dens in Design and Technology, and exploring plants and everyday materials in Science. Our English is called Curious Quests and we explore lots of amazing texts such as The Giant Jam Sandwich, The Wolly Bear Caterpillar and Owls and Owlets.

During year four you will be able to go on some visits, including a History trip to Fireground which is a Fire Engine museum in Rochdale. We also have a Den Building day and will make and flip pancakes as one of our Brunshaw Passport Experiences.

If you would like to find out more detail about our year one curriculum, please follow the link to our curriculum pages. Photos of our learning and experiences, as well as regular updates and information, will be posted onto our Class Dojo page.

It is really important that you read your reading book regularly and focus on making sure that you have learned all phonics sounds and tricky words. You will be expected to do this as part of your homework, and you will also have a half termly homework task to complete.

PE days will change throughout the year, so please make sure that your PE kit is in school and that all kit and uniform is clearly labelled.
