Hello, my name is Mrs McGuigan and I teach Oak Class, one of the year 2 classes here at Brunshaw. Working alongside me in Oak Class is Mrs Duxbury and Mrs Holdsworth will be working with us too.
In year two we have a lot of fun! We study amazing topics including the Titanic, Seaside Holidays, keeping ourselves healthy including making healthy sandwiches and Christmas singing and dancing. We have read some really exciting books too including Ruby’s Worry, the Wind in the Willows, Flat Stanley and the owl who was afraid of the dark. We also take part in The Brilliant Book Awards where we are the judges in a reading competition!
During year two you will be able to go on some visits, including a Science trip to Offshoots at Towneley, St Catherine’s Church and Blackpool. In Blackpool we look at different habitats, eat ice creams, make sandcastles and paddle in the sea!
If you would like to find out more detail about our Y2 curriculum, please follow the link to our curriculum pages. Photos of our learning and experiences, as well as regular updates and information, will be posted onto our Class Dojo page.
It is really important that you read your reading book regularly and focus on making sure that you have applying all of your learnt phonemes. You will be expected to do this as part of your homework, and you will also have a half termly homework task to complete.
PE days will be on a Friday, but please make sure that your PE kit is in school every day and that all kit and uniform is clearly labelled. Information about the indoor and outdoor kits needed at Brunshaw can be found on the website.
