Welcome to Elder Class
Hello, my name is Mrs Cooper and I am the class teacher for Elder Class, our Year 6 cohort. I am supported in the classroom by Miss Hindle.
Year 6 is an exciting and memorable time, filled with a wide range of engaging topics and opportunities. In History, we explore fascinating periods such as World War Two, the Vikings, and the Ancient Maya. In Design and Technology, pupils will enjoy designing and making their own teddies, while in Science we cover topics including light and electricity. Our English lessons are based on high-quality texts, including The Nowhere Emporium and Macbeth.
Throughout the year, there are a number of enriching experiences to look forward to. These include a visit to the World War Two museum in Preston, Viking and Maya themed days, and rehearsing for our end-of-year performance, where pupils will have the opportunity to sing and perform on stage.
If you would like more detailed information about our Year 6 curriculum, please visit our curriculum pages via the link provided. We also share regular updates, photos of learning, and important messages on our Class Dojo page.
Reading regularly at home and securing a strong understanding of times tables are essential parts of your child’s learning in Year 6. These will form part of weekly homework expectations, along with a half-termly project-based task.
Please note that PE days may vary throughout the year, so we ask that PE kits are kept in school and that all uniform and belongings are clearly labelled.
We’re looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and growing together in Elder Class!
