Hello! My name is Miss Bloy and I am the teacher in Buttercups Class. I work with the amazing Miss Aspinall, and together we help our children learn, play and grow. Buttercups is part of The Meadows, a special space in our school just for children who need a quieter, calmer way to learn.
In Buttercups, we have children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, and everyone is different – and that’s what makes our class so brilliant! We learn in lots of fun and practical ways that help us understand the world, talk to each other, and become more independent.
Our classroom is calm, safe and full of things to help us learn – like visual timetables, now-and-next boards, sensory toys and cosy spaces to relax in. We use things like PECS, Makaton, Core Words, and Intensive Interaction to help everyone communicate in their own way.
Every day we enjoy exciting routines like Attention Autism, Sensory Stories, group snack time, and lots of time to play and explore outside. We also do special work to help us take turns, make choices, follow routines and feel calm.
Each half term, we have a topic to explore. This year we will be learning about All About Me, Celebration and Light, Let’s Get Growing, On the Move, Animals and Their Homes, and Under the Sea. These topics help us play, explore, and discover new things in ways that work best for us.
In Buttercups, we believe that every child is special. We celebrate every small step and are proud of everything our children do. Our class is a happy place where we support each other and enjoy learning every day.
We can’t wait for all the fun, learning and adventures we’re going to have together this year.
