Meet our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion ambassadors, Marcie, Bella, Denas, Lilly, Hajrah, Joey, Willow, Gracie and Elija. A team of pupils who are dedicated to making sure that Brunshaw is a place where everyone feels valued, respected and heard. Their role is to promote fairness, celebrate diversity and challenge discrimination in all of its forms.
As part of our journey towards the Equality Mark, they will gather pupil voice and lead awareness. Their work will consider identity, belonging and inclusion, creating safe spaces where students can share their ideas and experiences for positive change.
We are very excited to introduce this new team whose work will continue to shape a school culture where equality is not just an aspiration but a lived experience for all.

At Brunshaw Primary School, we are committed to:
As a school, we believe that equality should permeate all aspects of school life and is the responsibility of every member of the school and wider community.

In addition to this, Brunshaw Primary gives full consideration to other groups who may experience disadvantage or require targeted support. These include:
In 2025-26, as part of our work on developing equality at Brunshaw, we joined Lancashire’s Equality Mark programme.
The Lancashire Equality Mark is awarded to schools that have taken measures to embed equality throughout their practice with the goal of enabling all pupils to thrive in a supportive learning community. It has been developed by a working group in Lancashire and provides a clear framework to guide schools through the process of auditing, developing and consolidating good practice in different areas of equality. The Equality Mark is comprised of six individual Equality Badges:
When a school achieves all six badges they will be awarded the Equality Mark. As a school, we will identify priorities each year that will both make a difference in an identified area of equality in our school community, and support wider development plans. This year, we are aiming to achieve the Race Equality badge and the Religion and Belief badge.
We ensure that equality is embedded in school life through:
At Brunshaw, we promote understanding, respect and cohesion by delivering a curriculum that celebrates diversity and promotes British Values. Different cultures, faiths, identities are family structures are explored in PSHE lessons, assemblies, classroom learning, our Mirrors and Doors provision and themed weeks.
The school actively engages with all stakeholders and feedback is used to shape the school’s future in our action plans. We challenge stereotypes and promote positive role models. Alongside this, we provide opportunities for families from diverse backgrounds to engage in school life. Pupil Voice is encouraged through the School Council, subject specific focus groups and our equality group.
