May 2026
Mrs McGuigan met with the ambassadors to further discuss the question ‘What it means to be British’. We decided on the concepts and ideas and Mrs McGuigan turned the ideas into a short presentation. This was practised and recorded by the ambassadors who were in school that week and shared on our various platforms for parents to view.

- Limited visibility of diversity initiatives: Some hadn’t seen many activities celebrating heritage or cultural differences.
- Need for broader religious representation: Requests for visits to mosques and other religious centres alongside church trips.

Discussed:
- The amount of work that is done in school that parents aren’t aware of linked to Equality, Inclusion and Diversity.
- Discussed ways of ensuring parents are aware of the things that are done. It was suggested to invite parents into lessons, outcomes and Monday assemblies.
- To create a video with Pupil Equality Group to discuss what it means to be British.
- To add traditional games from across the world to our lunchtime games.
- To create a video, similar to Sports News Example, to be sent out every half term to show parents what has been done that half term regarding equality and diversity across school.
- Discussed a multi-cultural day but weren’t keen on the idea as it would look like a stand-alone idea rather than it being embedded.
April 2026
Mrs McGuigan met with the ambassadors with the competition entries and they chose the top entries that they wanted to see displayed in our entrance corridor. It was a tough choice but the children decided on 3 top prize winners and many runners up who were chosen to turn their entries into bunting. The prizes were awarded in assembly and the winners worked together to create the bunting. It is now hung proudly in our entrance corridor.

10.02.26
Mrs McGuigan met with the group and handed out the new ambassador badges. We discussed how to show that our school was welcoming of different cultures, religions and groups of people. We decided to create some bunting to hang in the corridors to promote inclusion at Brunshaw. We discussed making it a competition to design a flag for our bunting and a competition entry form was created. The ambassadors handed this out throughout school.
