I am the Attendance Manager at Brunshaw Primary School, where I work closely with pupils, families, and staff to support the drive in positive attendance and wellbeing across the school. I understand how important regular attendance is for a child’s confidence, learning, and overall success and I am passionate about working with families in a supportive and understanding way.
I appreciate the challenges that families may face and always aim to approach attendance matters with empathy, clear communication and a child‑centred focus. I am proud to be part of a school community that places pupils at the heart of everything we do.
More about the role of Attendance Manager
As Attendance Manager, I play a key role in supporting pupils to attend school regularly and on time, as this is essential for both their learning and wellbeing. I monitor daily attendance, keep accurate records, and identify patterns of absence or lateness so that concerns can be addressed at the earliest stage.
I am committed to embedding a whole-school culture of positive attendance, where being in school every day is valued and encouraged. I believe that attendance is everyone’s responsibility, and I work closely with pupils, parents, carers, and staff to promote this shared understanding and commitment.
I meet regularly with parents and carers to discuss attendance concerns, offering guidance and support, and where appropriate, I put parental contracts in place to help improve attendance. I follow up on unexplained absences, carry out home visits in line with the school policy, and make referrals to multi-agency services to ensure families receive the right support.
I also work closely with the Local Authority to ensure all statutory processes are followed and that pupils are accounted for. Through clear communication and a proactive approach, I help create a consistent, supportive environment where all children feel encouraged to attend, engage, and thrive and that all parents feel supported.
As the SLT Attendance Lead, I have strategic oversight of attendance across the school, ensuring that high expectations are embedded in our culture and practice. I work closely with the Attendance Manager to monitor attendance data, identify trends, and evaluate the impact of our interventions. I support staff in promoting good attendance and ensure that policies and procedures are applied consistently. I also work with families, the Local Authority, and other agencies where needed, and report regularly to governors. My role is to ensure that attendance remains a key priority, so that every pupil is supported to attend, achieve, and thrive.
