Autumn Term
Tag Rugby – 2nd October 2024
Children from year 4 went to Unity College to participate in a tag festival, where the children moved around a carousel of different mini tag rugby games. After each little activity they played a mini game against another school. The children got progressively better game by game as the came to understand the rules a little more. This will stand them in good stead when it comes to the games festival on the 9th October!
WELL DONE EVERYONE FOR GIVING YOU ALL THROUGHOUT THE EVENT!
Animal Olympics – 1ST October 2024
Six selected children from year 1 went to Unity College to take part in a multi skills animal Olympics event. Here children took part in many activities working on throwing, running, jumping, crawling balancing and many more. The children all took huge pride in representing their school for the first time and they all thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Special mention to Brunshaw’s school games badge winner, Harry C. for showing great resilience and giving each activity his all after a nervous start to the event.
WELL DONE TO ALL THE CHIDLREN, YOU DID AMAZING REPRESENTING YOUR SCHOOL FOR THE FIRST TIME!
Active 60 – 26th September 2024
Children from year 4 went to the Prairie Sports Village to participate in a few new and different activities and spoke about the importance of trying to be active for a minimum of 60 minutes per day. On the day children took part in football, dodge ball, team games and everyone’s favourite on the day… golf! The children were allowed to take turns and hit some golf ball on the range. I’m sure we have the next tiger woods in this group!
Special mention to John, who was out star of the day. This were awarded for his tremendous attitude in all the activities, and driving the ball the furthest on the range, hitting an impressive 43 yards!
WELL DONE TO ALL THE CHILDREN, YOU WERE A CREDIT TO OUR SHOOL ON THE DAY!
Football Festival - 25th September 2024
A selected group of children from year 5 and 6 went to the spirit of sport. Where they played against 4 out of 6 schools attending. In these games we won 1, drew 2 and lost 1.
Every child was amazing and give it their all every game. A couple of standout moments came from Colton G, who tucked away a nice chipped finish over the keeper in our winning game and Bailey L, who’s goal keeping performance secured one of Brunshaw’s 0-0 draws.
WELL DONE TO ALL THE CHILDREN WHO REPRESENTED BRUNHAW PRIMARY SCHOOL.
Cross Country – 24th September 2024
Children from year 5 and 6 put themselves forward to participate in a cross country event, held at Towneley Park. Where they would compete against roughly 15-20 school (roughly 100 children in both the boys and girls race). All the children attending showed great guts and determination to finish the race (something Mr Clough definitely wouldn’t be able to do!)
Special mention to Brunshaw's highest finishing child in each race. Phoebe T, finished 13th in the girl’s race and Carter L, finished 7th in the boy’s race.
WELL DONE TO ALL THE CHIDLREN WHO TOOK PART. YOU SHOWED EVERYONE WHAT WONDERFUL CHIDLREN WE HAVE AT BRUNSHAW PRIMARY SCHOOL.
September 19th 2024 - Year 1 and 2 Fun Run at Towenley
What an amazing effort from our wonderful children in year 1 and 2. On Tuesday the children went to Towneley Park on a beautiful sunny day to take part in a fun run, organised by our friends at Burnley School Sport Partnership.
The children were unbelievable and we are so proud of their effort and determination.
They were a pleasure to be with and I hope they enjoyed it as much as we did. We had some AMAZING results.
Thank you to Miss Aspinall, Mrs Korfia and Mrs Arif for your help.
September 19th 2024 - BFC Women's Team visit Brunshaw
The ladies from Burnley FC women’s team came to Brunshaw to talk to us about their life, football career and how they got into it. The children asked some fantastic questions and listened intently.
After, the girls were able to go out and play some football with the ladies. I think we have a few budding footballers.
On top of all of that, they have kindly gifted us some tickets to give away to Sundays match. How lucky are we?
