Willow

Hello, my name is Miss Lees and I teach Willow Class. We are a Reception class. Working alongside me in Willow Class is Mrs Birtwell. Miss Eastwood works in Willow Class one day every other week.

In Reception, we cover lots of exciting topics, such as All About Me, Space, Dinosaurs and Around the World. Each week in Drawing Club, we explore a new text and draw our own versions of the characters and settings. We then create magic codes out of letters, words and numbers to bring our drawings to life!

During Reception, we take part in lots of exciting experiences, including watching chicks and butterflies hatch before our eyes in the classroom. We also go on a trip to a farm to feed the animals and ride on a tractor. Each half term, our grownups are invited into class for a Stay and Play session linked to our current learning. We also have regular ‘Seeds and Gardeners” activity afternoons with our friends in Year 6.

If you would like to find out more detail about our Reception curriculum, please follow the link to our curriculum pages. Photos of our learning and experiences, as well as regular updates and information, will be posted onto our Class Dojo page.

It is really important that children in Reception read their reading books regularly with their grownups at home. Staff can give support on this and there are events throughout the year to practise this at school. Regular home reading is part of our homework, as well as completing a creative task each half term linked to the class topic.

PE days will change throughout the year, so please make sure that your PE kit is in school and that all kit and uniform is clearly labelled.
