Hello, my name is Mrs Hannan and I teach Holly Class. We are a year three class. Working alongside me in Holly Class is Mrs Cullen and Mrs Hogan.  Miss Weller also works in our class for part of each day. We also have a fish tank with different fish that the class will name and look after throughout the year.

In year three we have lots of great topics as part of our curriculum: a break in at Turf Moor in the early 1900’s and The Stone Age in History, Volcanoes and Earthquakes in Geography, making castles and pneumatic toys in Design and Technology, and exploring light and rocks in Science. In English we have some brilliant texts to support our learning, including The Magic Faraway Tree, Pests and Paddington. 

We have some exciting experiences planned this year including a trip to Burnley Mechanics to perform on stage in front of a live audience and a first aid workshop to learn basic first aid. We will also have regular visitors coming into school to support our learning – keep your eyes peeled on our dojo page to see who we have coming in and when.

In year three, we have moved from Key Stage 1 up to Key Stage 2. To support this transition, you can;

• Read regularly (ideally every day) 

• Continue to practice times tables (usernames and passwords are in the front of the home school planners)

• Engage with online learning – this may involve accessing Dreambox Maths and Literacy Gold (usernames and passwords are in the front of the home school planners)

PE days will change throughout the year, so please make sure that your PE kit (indoor and outdoor) is in school and that all kit and uniform is clearly labelled with your full name.
