Hello, my name is Mr. Ratcliffe and I am the new teacher in Spruce Class. We are a Year Four class. Working alongside me in is Mrs. Arif.  Mrs. Holdsworth also works in the class for part of the week and covers when I am not in class.

During the year we will cover lots of exciting topics, including learning about the Ancient Egyptians and the Ancient Greeks in History, making biscuits and designing torches in Design and Technology, and exploring sound and electricity in Science. We have some really exciting texts in our English lessons, such as The Secret Garden and The Pied Piper of Hamelin.

During year four your child will be able to go on some visits such as a Science trip to Blackpool Zoo. We also have a Greek Day and will be learning some songs for a public performance at Christmas.

It is really important that your child reads their reading book regularly and also that they focus on making sure that they have learned all the times tables. Please do use TTRockstars for this! Children will be expected to do this as part of your homework, and there will also be a half termly homework task to complete too based on that term’s learning topic(s).

PE days will change throughout the year, so please make sure that PE kits are in school and that all kit and all uniform is clearly labelled. I would also suggest perhaps putting a little label on lunch boxes or drinks bottles in case someone has the same type. Finally, please make sure that planners are kept in book bags and brought into school each day so any additional information can be put in straight away and sent home.
