Outdoor learning resources – the ambassadors came up with lots of fantastic ideas that link with our different topics in different year groups. Some of the ideas are:

sandpit, skeleton bones for a scavenger hunt, fossils and brushes for the sandpit, butterfly hotels, worm hotel, bug hotel, animal shelter

‘Brunshaw Boutique for Bugs’ – bug hotel

Homemade bird feeders – science club

Magnifying glasses, investigation station, waterproofs, bug matching activity, weather station, rock hunt, gardening stuff, veg and fruit growing, poly tunnel, magnet game with a puzzle, weighing scale magnet game.

Easter competition – we discussed the science competition that we do in Spring 2. The ambassadors came up with some incredible ideas and we voted on the best idea. Our idea is to design an Easter egg that is linked to year group topics. For example, year 1 could design a winter egg, year 3 could design a fossil egg.

Each year group will enter if they want, competition sheets to be sent home and completed by a certain date – opposite science ambassador to judge and pick top 3.

    R, Y1, Y2 – top 3

    Y3, Y4 – top 3

    Y5, Y6 – top 3

Easter themed, egg shaped prizes, science related prizes. Each group of ambassadors will discuss what prizes we could get for each group.

Will draw up a mock competition sheet for the ambassadors to ‘ok’ at the next meeting.

Science week – ambassadors to go to classrooms with questions for children to answer that link to their science learning to win prizes.

We ran out of time and have decided to meet again at the beginning of Spring two term to decide on the competition prizes, the competition sheet and date for last entry and to further discuss science week, the theme and what we can do in school to celebrate science week.
