  • Places and Admissions

The Meadows is commissioned by Lancashire Local Authority and currently has 16 commissioned places.

Places within The Meadows are allocated by the Local Authority through the EHCP consultation process. Families cannot apply directly to Brunshaw for a place.  Admission to Brunshaw Primary School does not give access to, or priority for, a place within The Meadows.

    To be considered for placement:

    • A child must have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
    • School will be formally consulted by the Local Authority
    • Placement decisions are made based on whether the provision can appropriately meet need alongside the needs of the existing cohort

The Local Authority makes all decisions on who is named to The Meadows.

When The Meadows is considering consultations a range of factors are taken into account, including:

    • The child’s primary area of need
    • Communication profile and learning needs
    • Group compatibility and peer balance
    • Staffing and provision requirements
    • Capacity within the unit

As places are commissioned by the Local Authority, please direct any queries to your named Lancashire EHCP officer or the SEND Helpline (01772 533900) for further information about placements at The Meadows as we are not the commissioning authority.

Attendance at Brunshaw Primary School does not give children priority for a place within The Meadows. All placements are determined by Lancashire Local Authority through the EHCP consultation and naming process, based on individual need and whether the provision is considered appropriate to meet that need alongside the existing cohort within the unit.
