    1. National Year of Reading 2026 – Mrs Cunningham provided an overview of what this is. The children were asked for suggestions as to how this might be celebrated in school.

Freddie  - A whole school reading display to celebrate reading. This could be near to the hall. Mrs Cunningham will look for a suitable board.

Lottie – A visit from the book van. This is already scheduled as part of our library service level agreement.

Ivy – The Reader Leaders to lead an assembly. Mrs Cunningham to book this in with Mrs McGuigan.

Ariana – An after-school reading club where children can share books and maybe write stories. Mrs Cunningham to plan this in for Spring 2

Ellis – Make some improvements to class libraries with a specific focus on raising awareness of National Year of Reading. This will be the focus of Spring term Reader Leader Meeting.

Freddie – set up a staff reading for pleasure library. Mrs Cunningham to speak to Mrs Holdsworth to see whether she would like to lead on this.

    1. Library

The majority of the pupil librarians that were appointed have now left school (there are still 5 in Y6). Would the reader leaders like to take over this responsibility?

All Reader Leaders said that they would. We discussed the jobs that would need to be done: ensuring books are correctly shelved and facing spine outwards, emptying the returned book box, ensuring display shelves have attractive books on display. Mrs Cunningham will create a rota and share it with all classes and the support staff on duty in the library at lunch time. Mrs Cunningham also spoke to the children in Y6 who were previously trained as librarians. They would like to continue with the role.
