Boys Football - Years 5 and 6
On Friday 3rd November, children from year 5 and year 6 went to Burnley College to play in the Lancashire school FA tournament. After having to put our first match on hold, due to all the road works and major traffic around Burnley, the boys composed themselves and gave their all for the Brunshaw badge, playing amazing football in every match! Mr Clough was even getting comments from other schools’ parents on how well the boys passed the ball about, the level of consistency and just the beautiful flowing football they were playing. The boys managed to qualify for the next round and will now play against seven other qualifying schools in a week or two.
WELL DONE BOYS!

Tuesday 26th September - Year 3 and Year OAA Event
Selected children from Year 3 and Year 4 went to Towneley Park to take part in an OAA event. These children took park in many different outdoor games. The children's favourite was the Pokémon orienteering. The six children involved did amazingly, collecting 16 stations in under ten minutes.
Tuesday 26th September - Year 1 and 2 Fun Run
COR BLIMEY!! Brunshaw Primary School turned up to this event in big numbers. We had the largest number of children to ever enter one race at this event with approximately 30-35 children attending. All the children were incredible, as it was many of the children’s first time representing our school and what a fantastic job they all did! Well done boys and girls!!
Wednesday 27th September - Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby
Although we have been practising tag rugby in P.E this term in year 5 & 6, it is still a tough game to get your head around with the many rules. The selected children for this event did amazingly. It took our boys and girls a few games to get fully used to playing tag rugby in a real game situation but, when they got used to it a little more, things started to click, and they won the last two matches. This was a great effort and the children who attended carried their knowledge into the PE lessons in school to help their peers during the mini games in lessons. Having some game practice at this event helped us for what was to come next.
Tuesday 10th October - Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby World Cup.
This event was a follow on from the practice session a couple of weeks before. The children played outstanding tag rugby winning 5 out of 6 games in the group stage. With these results we got re-pooled into different group, where we played tougher competition. The boys and girls managed to win one, draw one but lost two in the final stages. The self- improvements in each and every player, plus the whole team ethos improvement from the practice session to the end of the Tag Rugby World Cup was incredible. Well done boys and girls! We have even had a couple of our children contact their local rugby club to take up rugby at grassroots club level, which is amazing to see.
Wednesday 28th September - Year 3 and Year 4 Active 60 Festival.
Selected children from year 3/4 went to the Prairie Sports Village to take part in lots of fun mini games. This ranged from parachute games, football golf, rock paper scissors hoop jump and a few more. The sports coaches spoke to the children about being active and on the move for a minimum of 60 minutes per day to keep our mind and body nice and active. This could even be small indoor activities with adults, like who can do the most star jumps in two minutes or who can jump up and down the bottom step the most in 1 minute. The children who took part engaged brilliantly all day and represented school with perfect behaviour.
Tuesday 10th October - Year 5 and Year 6 Football
First of all, well done to the team for being good sports when we arrived to the matches. On the day several teams dropped out which left only us and two other schools. As we had 10 players our children agreed that they would break into two teams meaning no other children would have to sit out and not be playing at any time, which is great sportsmanship. At the end of the tournament our two teams came 2nd and 3rd out of the 4 teams playing. This was a great effort as the other teams were able to make subs when the children were getting a little tired, where as our children played every minute of every game. Well done!
Wednesday 18th October - Year 4 MFA Ten Pin Bowling
Well first of all, this were by far Mr Clough favourite event he has ever been to, and if you ask the children who attended I am sure they will all say the same thing. This is the first ever ten pin bowling event in the Burnley school area, and it was absolutely fantastic! The children that attended played brilliant, supporting each other and most of all, having lots of fun. With the wonderful recipe for enjoyment our children scored really highly with our top scorer reaching 98 pins. In addition to this, we performed well as a collective and won the bronze medal out of 16 primary schools. WELL DONE BOYS AND GIRLS!
Fun run
On Tuesday some of our Year 1 and Year 2 children took part in a 'Fun Run' in Towneley Park. The event was organised by Burnley Sports Partnership. 26 of our children took part which is amazing, and we are so proud of every single one of them. The resilience and determination to finish was lovely to see and your behaviour was impeccable. Have a look at our superstars in action...
