Solo Parent Support and Friendship Group

Solo parents are an often overlooked group of people who are overcoming the challenges of raising the next generation. It can be a lonely, rewarding, scary, yet a joyful experience and we know that for some solo parents, the school summer holidays can be a more isolating period. As such we wanted to promote our Solo Parent Community.

Solo Parents United Stronger Together Northwest UK is a facebook group and has a black and gold logo for identifying the correct group for the Northwest and any solo parent may join us.

The group provides a supportive network for solo parents by bringing them together online and through face to face meet ups in the community. It is a private facebook group run by Stephen Walker, one of our Rehabilitation Officers in LCC, together with other solo parents. The group has various chat groups that focus on the different issues solo parents may face, and an SEN and health conditions team of parents who support parents with their own health conditions or those of their children.

Alongside the supportive online community, the group regularly hold meet ups in parks, coffee shops, family friendly days out, holidays, camping and also parent nights out for those who get the odd break from their children.
