Art Week
Class Feature Walls for Art Week
Willow, Sycamore and Ash Classes- Henri Matisse
During the first week of the new school year, we participated in a whole school art week. Each year group looked at a different artist. Our artist was Henri Matisse and we used the book called ‘Snail Trail’ to support our learning. We looked at his artwork called ‘Snail’ and created our own snails using collage and sculpture. I think you’ll agree that we did a great job!

Oak Class - Paul Klee
This afternoon we are printing to create abstract artwork like the artist we are studying this week - Paul Klee. We are creating extraordinary animals!
Cedar Class - Laurel Burch
For art week Cedar class studied the artist, Laurel Birch. We were inspired by her bright colourful pieces of art and using our focus book, Rabbitiness, produced some wonderfully vivid art our own. We used bold watercolours and pastels to create the art and then black pens to emphasise the lines over the top. The drawings we chose to use were from our class book Paddington. We drew his hat, umbrella, jars of marmalade, London buses and phone boxes and Big Ben in a repeating pattern to mimic the repeated patterns Laurel Birch used in her art. We hope you enjoy these masterpieces as we are very proud of how our art turned out.
Rowan and Chestnut Class - Vincent Van Gogh
During the first week of the new school year, we participated in a whole school art week. Each year group looked at a different artist. In Year 5 our artist was Vincent van Gogh, and we used the book called 'The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessmore' to support our learning. We focused on his artwork called 'Starry Night' (as well as many of his other famous paintings). We then innovated his painting of 'Starry Night' to incorporate the front cover of the book. We also created a scrapbook style piece of work to go alongside this in our sketch books. Check out our amazing display we created!
Elder Class - R.J. Palacio
Year 6 creating art work in the style of R.J Palacio based on the book ‘We’re all wonders’.
The children wrote everything about them around the face and created amazing pieces!
